Q: What are the benefits of joining the Purple Angels?

A: We incorporate community service and mentorship to promote partnership and team building. We want every girl to feel validated and empowered to go after their dreams. We want girls to gain the practical skills needed to deal with challenges.  Purple Angels create a support system and provide resources to help girls reach their highest potential regardless of circumstances. Every girl deserves to be spiritually, physically, emotionally, and socially healthy.

Q: Who can participate in the Purple Angels?

A: Purple Angels participants are generally ages 7-16. Once a girl turns 16, they are eligible to become a mentor. Membership is open to girls regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, abilities, and financial circumstances. Purple Angels encourage and embrace diversity, which demonstrates unity.

Q: Where and when are the sessions?

 A: The sessions are held at Lockhart Baptist Church at 7601 Edgewater Dr, Orlando, FL 32810. The sessions are from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm every Wednesday. Also, we meet two Saturdays per month, please review the event page. During the summer the schedule is subject to change.

Q: When should I drop my youth off/pick my youth up?

A: Girls should be dropped off between 4:50 pm and 5:00 pm and picked up by 7:10 pm on Wednesdays.

Q: Are snacks provided?

A: Yes, a light snack is provided. We understand most girls are coming straight from school and as a parent, it is important to fuel the mind to be focused and get the most out of the sessions.

Q: When is the Purple Angels closed?

A: We are subject to closures on some days due to holidays and school breaks. In addition, we have organization improvement weeks. You can view the 2021 closure dates below:

  • (Thanksgiving Break) November 25, 2021

  • (Christmas Break) December 23 and 30, 2021

Q: Is there a Registration Fee?

A: Yes, Purple Angels has a minimal registration fee of $25 per child. Every member is required to pay the registration fee.

Q: When are the membership fees due?

 A: There is a $75 membership fee which is due the first of each month. Membership dues are paid online and you have the option for recurring payments. There will be a $10 late fee if the payment is not received by the 1st of each month. Your child can not return until fees are paid. All fees are nonrefundable.

Q: Can you register for a class prior to signing up for the full membership?

Yes, You can register for individual classes for $25 each plus a one-time $25 registration fee. Once you register, any classes moving forward, you will only pay $25 per class

If you register as a full member within 30 days from the initial enrollment date, you will be credited $15 towards your membership fee.

After 30 days from the initial enrollment day, you will pay the full membership fee minus the membership fee. When you are ready to enroll full time, please email us at info@thepurpleangels.org to receive the appropriate waiver before completing the full enrollment process

Q: Is there a family discount?

Yes, for every additional child in the program you will receive a membership discount each month. To qualify for the discount, the child must live in the household. (subject to verification)

Q: What is included with membership?

A: You will receive a welcome package, which includes a Purple Angels Lanyard on the first day of class. While the curriculum and the empowerment experience are free, the membership fee covers operations, activity supplies, snacks, transportation, and community event, etc. There will be an additional small fee required for planned field trips.

 

Q: How can you join the Purple Angels?

A: Fill out the application online and one of our team members will be contacting you within 48-72 hours.

Q: Does the Purple Angels provide open enrollment?

 A: Enrollment is open once a year. Follow us on social media for upcoming enrollment dates. You can participate in activities as soon as we received and approved the membership documents and the registration fee. When enrollment is closed, you can still apply and we will contact you when enrollment opens again. Enrollment currently open

Q: What are the requirements for the volunteers?

A: Complete a volunteer application and submit a resume to info@thepurpleangels.org. The volunteers are subjected to a background check. The volunteers are required to participate a minimum of 4 hours each month. Community service hours are given upon request.

Q: What are the parent roles in the Purple Angels?

A: You as parents have knowledge of your child’s strengths, outside stress, and weaknesses. Your input is valuable, so share anything that can help us maximize the growth of our young girls. Support us by being involved in a session or community service events.  Supportive parents mean having your child's best interests, listening without judgment, and seeking to understand their concerns and challenges.

Q: What does the mentor/mentee relationship mean?

A: Generally, we host group sessions and we understand there may be individual needs that girls are too shy to express in-group. Purple Angels’ commitment to empowering girls on an individual and group level. The Purple Angel mentor is there to provide their mentee with individual emotional support, motivation, guidance, and a tangible role model experience. The Mentors gain their support from the group leaders. 

Q: Is the Purple Angels a 501(c)3 non-profit organization?

A: The Purple Angels is a nonprofit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service. Purple Angels is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All donations made to the Purple Angels are 100% tax-deductible and will be used to support our overall mission. All donors will receive an email receipt to claim a tax deduction. Please contact us to schedule a delivery drop off or pick up.
